Race Pacer iOS app on two iPhones: the running pace dial and the cycling speed dial in dark mode

Race Pacer

Pace, speed and finish time for runners, cyclists, swimmers and triathletes, on one beautifully simple dial.

Overview

Race Pacer is a native iOS app, designed and built by Afluo, that answers the question every endurance athlete asks before a race: what pace do I need to hold? Pick a distance and scroll the pace ruler, and the finish time updates as you go. Or type a goal time and get the exact pace or speed to hold. It covers running, cycling, swimming and triathlon, in miles or kilometers, yards or meters.

We set out to make it a showcase of what a modern iPhone app can feel like: fully native, instant, and calm. No account, no ads, no tracking, just the numbers you need on a start line.

State-of-the-Art iOS 26 Design

Liquid Glass, Everywhere

Race Pacer is built for iOS 26 and embraces Liquid Glass. The sport picker, toolbar buttons, distance chips and the lens over the pace ruler are real glass materials: they refract the colors beneath them, catch the light as you scroll and respond to every touch.

A Dial You Can Feel

The heart of the app is a scrolling pace ruler. Major and minor ticks glide under a glass lens while the readout updates live, so pace becomes something you set with your thumb rather than a form you fill in. A second scale shows the same pace in the other unit, and the race distance sits behind it in oversized type.

One Color per Sport

Each discipline has its own tint (blue for running, pink for cycling, teal for swimming, orange for triathlon) carried through the backdrop, controls, widgets and app icons. Everything works in light and dark mode, and the theme can follow the system or be forced either way.

Numbers You Can Trust

Pace is stored to the fraction of a second and only rounded for display, deliberately: paces round down and speeds round up, so holding the number on screen always meets the goal.

Every Distance on One Wheel

Tap the race name and every preset lines up on a curved wheel, from the mile to 100 miles, each showing its predicted finish time at your current pace. Custom distances and favorites pin straight to the main screen.

Even or Negative Splits

Splits show the elapsed time at every mile or kilometer. Switch to a negative split and Race Pacer moves time between the two halves, so you start controlled and finish strong without changing your goal finish time.

Triathlon, Leg by Leg

From super sprint to full distance, a triathlon keeps a pace for the swim, a speed for the bike and a pace for the run, plus the T1 and T2 transitions. Enter a goal time and every leg scales in proportion while the transitions stay put.

Native Home Screen Widgets

Small and medium widgets put the pace ruler and finish time right on the Home Screen. Built with WidgetKit and App Intents, they're interactive: tap the ruler or the chevrons to change your pace without opening the app. Each widget can be set to its own sport, units and favorite distances, and adapts to light, dark and tinted Home Screens.

An Icon for Every Discipline

Runners, cyclists, swimmers and triathletes can each pick their own app icon in Settings. All four come in light, dark and tinted versions, so the icon always matches the look of the Home Screen.

Seven Languages, Two Unit Systems

Race Pacer speaks English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch, with every number formatted the local way. Units default from the device language (miles and yards in English, kilometers and meters elsewhere) and can be changed at any time, with separate settings for land and water, because plenty of triathletes count miles on the bike and meters in the pool.
